Aniracetam Side Effects

Before taking any nootropic it is important to have the right mentality about the potential side effects to keep yourself self. When it comes to aniracetam and the entire racetam family you will most likely have much less to worry about than other nootropics. Because the family is well-researched and very mild for most people, it is a great place to start in the nootropics world.

Aniracetam is associated with some of the most positive effects in cognitive enhancement with very little risk for side effects. The few aniracetam side effects that exist are usually mild and easy to take care of with the right precautions.

General Nootropic Side Effects

There are many nootropics that have side effects and some of them are more hard to handle than others. It will depend on each individual’s biochemistry, but in many cases the brain chemicals can be altered through nootropics.

Some nootropics are very strong and chemically can unbalance brain chemicals. For example, Adderall and amphetamines have the potential to release a lot of dopamine into the brain in high quantities. While this is useful for the purpose of staying focused, it can leave the brain unbalanced and create long term problems as a result.

While Adderall is an extreme example there are plenty of nootropics that generally have side effects for the human brain. This should not deter you from finding out what works best for you in the long and short term, but it is important to keep this in mind and compare with the relative safety of aniracetam.

Aniracetam Side Effects

As with other racetams, the primarily concern with aniracetam is the headache that some people complain of. This aniracetam side effect is usually considered relatively mild because it can be changed with the right dosage of choline.

Aniracetam works by improving the utilization and uptake of acetylcholine in certain regions of the brain, such as the hippocampus. When this happens the brain can be depleted of acetylcholine, which causes headaches or even jaw pain. Taking a choline supplement (such as alpha GPC or citicholine) can mitigate this side effects of aniracetam.

For certain situations there are also aniracetam side effects to be concerned about. Interactions with other psychoactive compounds, such as prescription drugs and alcohol, can have a negative impact on the aniracetam effects. Some people who struggle with depression or anxiety have negative results combining substances even if aniracetam can help on its own.

Pregnant and nursing mothers might not want to take aniracetam, however. The development stage for a baby is very important and even though aniracetam is not toxic and has few side effects, it is better to be safe than sorry.

Aniracetam Dosage Side Effects

Sometimes there are side effects that are related to the dosage of aniracetam consumed. If you are just starting out with aniracetam it might be a good idea for you to get a smaller dose and then work your way upwards from there. The doses for reducing anxiety are around 1 – 2000 mg while some people in the Longecity and Reddit community advocate using upwards of 4500 mg through 4 doses a day.

Whatever you decide, be mindful of your own body so that you can adjust. Many people do not pay enough attention to their body and how it feels when taking any psychoactive compound. If you are conscious and mindful you will have relatively few side effects of aniracetam because of the dosage.
